Frequently asked questions
Does eSIM tourist come with a phone number?
No. This Viettel eSIM does not come with a local phone number. You cannot make call or text SMS from this number.
How can I check my Viettel eSIM data balance?
You can check your Vietnam Viettel eSIM data balance by texting KTTK to 191. The response message will let you know your remaining data. However, it will be in Vietnamese.
When is my daily data reset?
It will be reset at 23:59 in a natural day, Vietnam time (GMT+7)
Will my eSIM data speed be reduced when my high-speed data is used up?
No. When your daily high-speed data is used up, your mobile data will stop until its reset time.
When will I receive my eSIM?
Once you complete your order, you will receive within the eSIM QR code and users’ guide within 10 minutes. In case you cannot find it in your primary box, please check your spam, or promotion box. If it is not available there, please contact us via email [email protected] or Whatsapp +84.936.631.501 for support.
When does my eSIM data plan start?
Your plan starts the moment it is installed on your device. However, please keep in mind that your eSIM QR code is valid for up to 15 days after your purchase. So you can buy this eSIM no more than 15 days before your departure and have to activate it within those 15 days. When installing it, please make sure that your phone Wi-Fi connection is stable.
Can I renew or extend the data on my eSIM?
No. When you eSIM gets expired, and you want to use more, please buy a new eSIM.
Can I share data from this eSIM with other devices?
Yes. These Viettel eSIMs support personal hotspot/tethering/wifi sharing.
Which devices work with the eSIM card?
Like other esims, our Vietnam eSIM works on all device which is equipped with Add eSIM or Add mobile data feature.
They include, but not limited to:
- iPhones XR onwards, except for certain iPhones for China, Hong Kong, Macao market
- Samsung S20 onwards, except for certain Samsung S20/S21 FE and certain Samsung phones for USA and Canada markets.

What if I delete my eSIM from my phone?
This eSIM QR code can be installed once only
What if I lose my eSIM QR code?
If you lose your eSIM QR code, please contact our support center at [email protected] or Whatsapp +84.936.631.501, we will resend the code to you.
Can I use my SIM card and Vietnam Viettel eSIM at the same time?
Yes, of course, you can. But please keep in mind the following things:
- Set your SIM card for phone calls and SMS, and Vietnam eSIM for mobile data on your phone.
- Do not Turn on Auto data switching mode on your phone (if any) to avoid data roaming charge on your primary SIM card.
- International roaming charges might be applied for making phone calls and sending SMS.
So, it is highly recommended to keep your primary phone number active only when you need to receive calls and SMS when you are in Vietnam. Otherwise, make full use of our esim’s unlimited data to contact your friends, family members via Apps like Whatsapp, etc.
